Washington township in 1870

  • Population = 1,564
  • Acres of corn = 2,583
  • Acres of other field products = 5,407
  • Cattle = 1,485
  • Horses = 596
  • Mules = 4
  • Sheep = 631
  • Hogs = 819
  • Total value of domestic animals = $30,181

Washington Township Community Building

Built in 1929, the community building was hailed

 as the best of its kind in Will County.


The Myrick Meat Market

The first brick building in Beecher was constructed in 1903.

This building is at 756 Penfield Street.


The Beecher Creamery

A modern plant built in 1905.

It closed in 1932 and the building was demolished.

This site on N. Reed street is now a park.


Koch Hardware Store

This brick building was constructed in 1905.

It is located at 534 Gould street.
